About Posters
Posters here come off one of two shelves, and which one a piece sits on changes what you can do with it more than anything else on the page.
Ready-made pieces are finished. The artwork, the size and the finish are already decided, the stock exists, and it goes out as it is. Made-to-order pieces are printed after you order, from a design somebody built in the studio — which means the size ladder is open, and you can take the design into the studio and change it before it is printed rather than accepting it as found.
Neither is the better shelf. Ready-made is the right answer when you have seen the thing you want and would rather have it this week. Made-to-order is the right answer when the wall has an awkward proportion, when you want a set to line up, or when the artwork is nearly right and you would change one thing about it.
What you are actually buying
A poster is a print, and the print is most of the experience. Paper choice decides whether an image reads soft or sharp: a matte stock swallows reflections and suits anything with large flat areas of colour, while a smoother finish holds fine detail and thin line work better. A frame is a separate decision again — it changes the footprint on the wall, the weight of the parcel, and how formal the piece reads. An unframed print in a room of framed work looks casual on purpose; a framed print in a room of unframed ones looks like the anchor.
Where a customisation option is fixed by us, its cost is already in the price you see. Where it is yours to choose, the price moves as you choose it, in front of you, before the bag.
Sets and pairs
A number of pieces here are sold as sets rather than singles, and a set is a different job from a single large piece. Two or three related images at the same size read as one considered wall; one large image reads as a statement. A set is also more forgiving of a wall you cannot measure well, because the spacing absorbs the error.
Ordering and delivery
Prices are in AUD and include GST where it applies. Unframed prints are light and go in the flat national parcel band, so the postage is the same to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. Framed work is priced by destination because a frame is bulky rather than heavy, and the carton's size is what a carrier charges on. In Greater Sydney you can collect free from North Kellyville or we will hand-deliver. You see the figure in your bag before you pay.
